Party Leader: Thierry Burkart
FDP-The Liberals, founded in 2009 after the merger between the Free Democratic Party and the Liberal Party of Switzerland, is a liberal and reform-oriented political party in Switzerland. The party stands for personal responsibility, competition and healthy public finances while fighting against paternalism, bureaucracy and an inflated state.
FDP stands for a cosmopolitan Switzerland in a globalized world and cooperation with the EU though bilateral treaties, but against EU accession. Currently, FDP is the joint-largest party in the Federal Council, the third-largest party in the National Council, and the second largest in the Council of States.
GRÜNLIBERALE SCHWEIZ
Party Leader: Jürg Grossen
The Green Liberal Party (GLP), also known as the Green Liberals, is a progressive Swiss political party that seeks to connect liberal economic and social policies with environmental goals and principles of sustainability. The GLP believes in getting things done through cooperation across the political spectrum while remaining faithful to its principles.
It is unequivocally pro-European, defending international cooperation and multilateralism, particularly at the European level, as it feels it is the only way to tackle global challenges. It believes Switzerland’s strong and active involvement in key policy areas such as the single market or the European Research Area is vital for the country’s future and prosperity.
