Founded by Italian senator Emma Bonino, the party aims to work to defend and improve the lives of citizens, protecting their rights and freedoms, defending the European Union of today to build that of tomorrow.

Azione ("Action") is a liberal political party in Italy, led by Carlo Calenda, current member of the Italian Senate and a former Minister of Economic Development and MEP. The party was founded in 2019 to fight the forces of left and right-wing populism, and vows to promote the values of liberal democracy, free market economy and social solidarity. Azione is a growing political force: at the last parliamentary elections in September 2022, the party ran in a centrist alliance which obtained 2.1 million votes (7.8%), bringing four senators and 11 deputies into the Italian Parliament.
